Salley Martin – Guidance Counselor, Three Points Elementary
”Our teachers
and staff have appreciated the tremendous support that Three Points Elementary
has received from the Learning for Life Program. Because of the great resources
and technical support … we have been able to implement a comprehensive character
education program! ….
The Learning
for Life lessons are developmentally appropriate and correspond so well to the
guidance curriculum goals as well as our bullying prevention program goals. The
teacher manuals make it easy for the teachers to implement relevant lessons.”
Diane Taylor – 1st Grade Teacher, Conway Elementary
“The first
grade team has been using the lesson plans and the Family/Home Activities each
month. We really appreciate the effort. …. The plans are fantastic.”
Anne H. Geisler
– Principal, Hunter’s Creek Elementary
“Our school
climate is the result of the conscious daily efforts of faculty and staff to
create an “invitational school.” As a high performing school, we are very aware
that for students to acquire academic knowledge, we must first make them feel
welcome and comfortable in their learning environment. We use Learning for Life
lessons, coupled with class meetings, to reinforce the basic principles of
respect, kindness, responsibility, and community. Our parent volunteers are
trained to deliver Learning for Life lessons in the classrooms too, making the
home-school connection that extends our values education into the community.
Learning for life gives staff, students, and parents a way to work together as
we develop young citizens that will have the strength of character needed to
lead the world of the future.
Crispin Hydock
– 4th Grade Teacher, Hunter’s Creek Elementary
“Learning for
Life is not a program that is done just monthly or weekly, it is a daily
commitment to reach for a higher plateau in life. Lessons about life occur on a
daily basis. Challenges will follow our students throughout their lives into
adulthood. Learning for Life lessons foster community, emphasize confidence,
self esteem, and forges bods in the classroom. Learning for Life attributes
follow our students into adulthood so that they may build a cohesive community
in our ever-changing multicultural world. Our students are like a treasure box
overflowing with jewels – each a different size and color, each needing a little
“polishing,” and each sparkling from within with vibrancy and radiance.”
Marie Cashion – Assistant Principal, Three Points Elementary
“As one of
the schools in Orange County Public Schools, we have been fortunate enough to
have the Learning for Life curriculum in our school. Our guidance counselor is
very active in supporting the teachers and staff as they use the curriculum and
the resources in this program to help our students learn responsible behavior
and good values that will last them a life time.” ….. |
